The PAIA Lower Eastern Cherokee Nation SC has participated in the Gray Court/Owings Pioneer Days since 2003. This event took place in Owings until 2009 when it was moved to downtown Gray Court to the Culbertson Back Country Settlement. Our tribal members have walked in the parade and carried the flags since the inception of this event. We have sold our handmade crafts and in the past, we painted faces with Indian designs. This year's date is Saturday, September 10th. Parade started at 10:00 A.M. The Gray Court Owings Historical Society invites you to Pioneer Day at the Culbertson Backcountry Settlement in Gray Court, SC.
10 AM: Living History Parade
Noon: The DAR, War of 1812, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century and the UDC will sing patriotic songs and recognize our veterans and other dignitaries.
PAIA Lower Eastern Cherokee Nation SC, Revolutionary War re-enactors, and Musgrove Mill Militia  will help you step back in time to early Laurens County with craft demonstrations, shape note singing, and bluegrass and drum music. PAIA Lower Eastern Cherokee Nation SC will have a craft booth of many handmade Native crafts.
Come discover the log cabins, church, blockhouse, school,  blacksmith shop , farm animals, and petroglyph.
A local archaeologist will help identify your Native American artifacts.
Several local authors will have books for sale on Laurens County and South Carolina.
Abe Lincoln will have a program for children.
Barbeque plates, ice cream, and local honey will be for sale.
